I will become a judge on June 7, 2013.

The Illinois Supreme Court has announced my appointment to the Circuit Court of Cook County to fill a vacancy in the 11th judicial subcircuit. The appointment will be effective until December 1, 2014, when the position is filled by the 2014 General Election. I will run to keep the position.

Justice Mary Jane Theis recommended the appointment on the advice of a bipartisan screening committee. The committee co-chair, retired U.S. District Court Judge Wayne R. Andersen, said I will bring to the bench "fidelity to the law, intelligence and, perhaps most importantly, considerable experience and empathy regarding the difficult circumstances of life that judges resolve every day."
